Flying Fish

Flying Fish are also commonly seen around the East Coast.

Mediterranean flying fish - Cheilopogon heterurus :

They can grow to a maximum 40cm long, can fly over long distances (40m) and it is thought that this is to avoid danger. This flying fish is not commercially exploited although it is very good to eat. They spawn in the summer months with eggs with filaments over the surface of the water.

Loggerhead Turtle

It is a large turtle similar to the Green Turtle, with a relatively larger head. Its colour is reddish brown, attaining a shell length of about 0.7-2.1m. It usually weighs about 135kg. It is carniverous and nests on the beaches of Northern Cyprus
